Congratulations to Superintendent Della Lataille-Herdsman on the announcement of her retirement effective February 28, 2023. Della has served public education with great dedication, skill and a commitment to the success of all students for more than 26 years.

Della joined the Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB) in 2021, bringing the knowledge and expertise honed from her prior experience as a principal, vice-principal, early literacy resource teacher and classroom teacher in Toronto and Peel. Throughout, Della demonstrated a focus on building strong and trusting relationships in service of student-centred teaching.

“While I only had the pleasure of working alongside the incredible team at the WRDSB for a short time, I will truly miss working with each of them so much,” said Lataille-Herdsman. “I am so grateful for the opportunity to work in partnership with the families and communities we serve as, together, we prepared students for success.”

“Della’s leadership, ability to build meaningful relationships, dedication to student achievement and well-being, and willingness to approach every topic with care and compassion will be missed,” said Scott Miller, associate director. “From the senior team, to the schools she led, I know that Della’s dedication and efforts were appreciated by so many across the Waterloo Region District School Board and beyond.”

As a school board, we want to express our sincere gratitude for the leadership, commitment and service that Della brought to her role in the WRDSB. We wish her nothing but the best as she takes on the next chapter in her journey.
