May 11th, 2021
As we have shared over the past year, Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB) uses a five-phase approach within the province’s framework for reopening to reopen our board facilities:
- Phase 1: support the opening of Essential Service Childcare Centres
- Phase 2: support our Licenced Child Care Centres and Summer Camp at sites with Purpose Built Child Care Centres (23 locations)
- Phase 3: open board-owned outdoor facilities
- Phase 4: address the opening of Licensed Child Care at sites without Purpose Built Space
- Phase 5: consider opening our schools to Community Use and Rental partners
Spring 2021 – Indoor and Outdoor Rentals
While our school buildings remain closed to students, we are focused on supporting daytime school operations. In light of the current stay-at-home order and provincial shutdown, all WRDSB outdoor sites will be closed at least until May 20, 2021. All WRDSB indoor facilities will remain closed to community use at least until June 30, 2021. All existing permits will be updated accordingly.
Summer 2021
We have not made any decisions about the community use of our facilities during the summer for programming such as summer camps, sports camps, etc. We ask for your patience as we proceed with caution before granting access to our sites. We will contact affected permit holders individually once a decision is made. This does not apply to turf or field rentals and licenced childcare providers.
Thank you for your understanding and patience.
