The Ministry of Education announced, as part of enhanced safety measures for the return to in-person learning for students with special education needs, unable to learn remotely, all students and staff attending in-person must verify that they have completed the daily self-screening process.

As a reminder, all students returning to in-person learning are expected to continue to complete the Ontario COVID-19 School Screener daily before attending school. Those who receive the “go to school” message may attend and those who receive the “do not go to school” outcome from the screener cannot attend school and should follow the Return to School guidance offered on the end page of the screener.

While we have always had the expectation that students self-screen before coming to school, we have developed additional measures to support the verification process.

Elementary Students and Families

  1. As you have before, complete the Ontario COVID-19 School Screener. For those without access to the website, the PDF version is available. This PDF version is available in several languages.
  2. For those families able to access the web version of the form, when you reach the Go to school/child care end page, select the <Email Result> button. In the <To:> enter your school’s attendance address (the school attendance email is available on each school website) and <CC:> classroom teacher.
  3. For those families who prefer the paper version of this process, please use the Weekly Verification of Screening form.

For Secondary Students and Families

  • Students attending in-person will continue the same verification process in place prior to the break.

Remember, the Ontario COVID-19 School Screener can be accessed by clicking the button below, which can be found on all WRDSB school websites.

Data continues to indicate that school-level transmission is low. Daily screening is a layer of protection that further reduces that risk. We look forward to welcoming our students back to school.

If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19…Stay Home.
